Women Picket DC Founders
Courtney Piper is the Director and Spokeswoman of Women Picket DC, a non-partisan grassroots coalition. Courtney is the CEO of Red Tent Productions, an independent journalist, and a spiritual activist. As a former Child Protective Service Specialist, an Educator for Planned Parenthood of Western Washington, a Doula, and a mother, she brings expertise in the protection of mothers and their children—which she will remind you is everyone. Piper has 20 years of experience with community organizing and leading workshops, and has played an important role raising awareness about the importance of sex-based rights. Kara Dansky is a Legal Expert and Feminist with Women Picket DC. She serves on the steering committee of the US chapter of the Women’s Human Rights Campaign, where she coordinates legal and policy advocacy. Dansky served on the board of the Women’s Liberation Front from 2016 to 2020, and has extensive experience in criminal law and criminal justice policy, including serving as Senior Counsel at the ACLU’s Center for Justice, where she authored the ACLU’s report “War Comes Home: The Excessive Militarization of American Policing.”
Samantha Berg is a writer and event organizer focused on reducing men’s demand for prostitution. In the 2000s, before Facebook and Twitter, anti-prostitution feminists gathered on Berg’s forum boards at Genderberg.com, one of the earliest internet radical feminist activist communities. Amy Sousa is an independent journalist and has been writing and speaking on feminist issues for years. For twenty years Sousa worked in theater education as a Teaching Artist, an Education Director, and facilitating community outreach. She brings expertise in event planning and community organizing.
